Release Time:

In February 2026, during Indonesia's National Health and Safety Month, SIDSA China Chairman Pierre Jean Charnay was invited by Indocement and Heidelberg Materials to attend a conference in Jakarta. The discussions focused comprehensively and pragmatically on the safety challenges and developments within the solid waste treatment process.

As the largest economy in Southeast Asia, Indonesia has a massive population base and a rapidly growing industrial system, yet it simultaneously faces immense pressure from solid waste management. Currently, the Indonesian market is on the fast track of transitioning from traditional landfilling to "waste-to-energy" utilization, bringing increasing industrial safety and compliance challenges. Taking this opportunity during Indonesia's National Health and Safety Month, we engaged in in-depth discussions with attending experts regarding the practical pain points throughout the entire solid waste treatment process. The consensus was clear: efficiency-driven capacity improvements must be built upon a safety system adaptable to local complex working conditions—this is the baseline for long-term enterprise development.

During the sharing session, we focused on SIDSA's practical cases in China, Southeast Asia, and specifically within Indonesia. By reviewing several of our benchmark projects, we shared with partners present our risk response strategies when handling complex materials.

Indonesian Project

Special mention was made of the cement kiln co-processing and municipal solid waste (MSW) resource recovery project in Jakarta, as well as discussions on the difficulties and challenges encountered in certain projects. This frontline-derived, long-term validated practical experience received unanimous recognition from the attendees.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Indocement specially presented us with a certificate of honor. This represents not only recognition of this sharing session but also affirmation of the SIDSA team's long-term commitment to working on the front lines and solving practical problems. Moving forward, we will continue to rely on this valuable practical experience to provide safer and more reliable support for Indonesia's green transformation.
